Shooting Advice for Women
During the shooting event, Brookelynn Keefe spoke to competitor Emma Thomas.Thomas said she practiced with close to 1,000 rounds to prepare for the Labrador Winter Games and was really excited to compete.
During International Women’s Week, Thomas said she’s proud to be competing in the event. While there are more than 2.42 million Canadians with a Possession Acquisition License (PAL), only 15 per cent are women.
“I honestly feel really proud about it because a lot of people see hunting, and they associated with men, and not so much women. So to me, I'm really proud to be here represent women. I like doing everything men do, and we women can do anything men can do,” Thomas said.
Brooklynn Keefe: Do you have any advice to any other women out watching this that wants to get in hunting or try talking shooting?
“Honestly, just go for it. I mean, you can't compare yourself to men at all, like you just go and do your own thing, and you do it for you, and truly, I really enjoy it,” Thomas said.
